Getting the attention of your consumers can prove difficult sometimes, especially when it is so easy for them to overlook your attempts to reach them via your marketing material. Here are some ‘don’ts’ to stay away from if you want to effectively reach your consumers.
1. Don’t try to reach all of your consumers with one post
You are better off focusing on one group of consumers at a time, this will make it easier to create a clear message and stand out more. Otherwise, the consumers you want to reach may miss it altogether.
This would also be beneficial for email marketing, as you can target specific consumer segments there and get the appropriate messages out to the correct consumers, leading to better connections.
2. Don’t just repeat what other brands are posting regarding current events
Remember when COVID-19 first hit the headlines? The marketing world got shaken up quickly. Unfortunately, this led to a wide variety of brands putting out marketing materials that ended up looking and sounding the same.
If you want to post about something, it may be a good idea to look at what others are posting, just in case there are similar phrases and words being used, you want your material to stand out, not get lost in the sea of social media posts.
3. Don’t always use the same phrases that other companies are using
Consumers don’t like when they are being fed the same messages over and over again. Find other ways to word what you want to say and avoid overusing the same phrases. If you don’t’ consumers will just skip your marketing materials,
You need to find a way to cut through the clutter and reach your customers in a way they haven’t been reached before. You can also look at what other companies are doing and try to put your own spin on it. Just don’t copy them, make it more personalised!
4. Don’t be afraid to be bold
Make yourself stand out! If you want to catch your customers' attention, don’t be afraid to try things that will catch their eyes while scrolling through their social media feeds. If you aren’t doing so already, add a pop of colour that matches or complements your brand colours. Stick to either one or a few colours, so you don’t overwhelm the customer, and turn them off your brand.
If you follow these steps, you will be able to reach your consumers in ways you haven’t been able to before and strengthen your relationships with them.
